Hey everyone, I'm trying to get a new front bumper for my 84 d150, can't find any reproductions for an 84, but 86-93 have repo's, am I able to put that on the truck without noticing it's the wrong bumper or does the brackets line up?

There was about three different ( maybe four ) style bumpers from 81 to 93 . So it depends on what style your looking at to replace yours and who's looking at it as to whether someone would notice . Some pain in the butt like me would tell that it's not the right bumper but someone else might not notice . As far as the brackets you got now , lining up to a different year bumper ? The best I can do is say "maybe" . I've swapped brackets before and sometimes they swap and sometimes they don't and sometimes I've had to make them work .

By the way , What's wrong with the bumper that's on your truck now ?

I'd think they would interchange. Of course I'm guessing, but I wouldn't think that there are very many, if any differences other than maybe appearance. Dodge was pretty cheap in upgrading and changing things with that bodystyle.

The bumper bracket's would more then likely bolt to the frame from different years but wont necessarily swap from bumper to bumper . Another words his 84 bumper brackets on to say a 93 bumper .

I swear they will, but haven't had my 84 for over ten years. I had it when I got my 72. That Sat unregistered (i love that I can do that without consequence for as long as I want) for at least 5 years. I'll have to dig out my pics and see. Now I'm just curious, not that I'm right, just curious.

From my experiences the brackets bolted to the frame OK but mounted to the bumper different.

Yeah , That's what I was trying to say . Thanks 7Mopar . ;)

My bumper is all bent up from a accident, need to get it replaced :/ Also what would you guys recommend for getting dents out of the grill ring.

I know I've got a couple of front bumper's but I can't remember what year's they are . I know which one is supposed to be on your truck but post a picture of yours just in case someone changed it before you got it and then I'll check to see if I've got the same style that your looking for .

As far as the dings in your grill ? Your talking about the tin surround correct ? Because most of your grill is plastic . For that you have to be good with metal work and body hammers and work them out .

Almost every Dodge from that era that I see has a bent bumper.
Oh yeah I know the middle is meant to be bent, but both sides are messed up from cars running into it lol. Can't really see it in the pictures either, but towards the end it's bent out more from us trying to unbend it

You need to pull it from the bottom corner. Another wards it needs to be twisted straight. It may take a few pulls to get it right, definitely try not to go to far with it. I donot have any pictures but have straightened much worse.

I tried awhile ago, and it wouldn't budge, ended up balding my front tires in one spot. We had a really nice unbent bumper that still had a nice chrome on it, but that was destroyed in the last wreck the truck was in. This bumper that is on the truck now is factory bumper, its losing chrome also so thats why I was just trying to find a new one on ebay. Chrome shops in Las Vegas aren't as good as they use to be and to ship it out and have it rechromed would be more than just buying a new lol.

Surprised that did not get into the frame. If it has do you have a good frame shop to get it all pulled back into shape before parts are removed? Check in particular where the steering box mounts. Once bent that part of the frame is hard to keep in place without adding bracing.

This was almost two years ago, my dad and I pulled everything off and straightened up the radiator support the frame was ok. We replaced the fender, hood, put our original outer grill back on and our original bumper, drove around for a year without a headlight bezel though cause they were so hard to find lol. My dad passed away a couple months after his accident and I finally got the truck done besides the bumper.
