So I took apart my 3/4 ton axels that I'm going to put on my 79 w200. I'm putting 37s on it. They are 3.73 gears and I've read that I need 4.88s or 5.13s to make the truck run good. Is this true. What gears are anyone using. Oh yeah I have a mild built 318 so its no big power house. I just want It to drive on the street and do some light 4wheeling

According to this chart, yep.

2nd line under "View original size" box, grey is daily driver and recommends either a 4.88 or 5.13 gear. Blue yields better milage, yellow is for towing.
