Does anyone know what would be involved with swapping a 361 with a Cummins motor in its place and what would have to be done to make a NP 540 new process transmission work with the Cummins bolt pattern or if it’s even possible without spending mega bucks for a custom adapter.

Sneaky guy! I only know about swapping a Cummins into a D300. A guy on FCBO did one recently, not too much Fab work. Think he used the stock transmission from an 80's- early 90's.

Personally would find a donor vechile 93 or older to remove complete power train from and any mounts required. No reason to make this a headache conversion if you do not need to. Also better take the rear axle gears into consideration. If lucky the D600 has a 2 speed to get it moving with the 361 and get it down the road at reasonable rpms.

thought the cummins was longer then the space . some firewall mods are needed . your 361 bell won't work , that newer cummins can be had complete . try for a turbo'd unit , maybe an allison auto you'll be happier .

Ive been trying to find a 12 valve cummins nv4500 2wd donor vehicle thats wrecked or just rusted out for a descent price but its easier said than done
