Still run 40 channel with weather band. Sits on weather 98% of time. Not much going on anymore. Occasionally will get someone. Local quarry uses them.
Spanish broadcasting stopped a few years ago. It's still legal to use were phone are not many places. Especially road use. My practical range here is about 5 miles but have gone as far as 15.
Not like years ago when more used them. With a good antenna could skip hundreds in the right weather conditions. But then I don't play on it like years ago.
They still have a place especially if traveling in groups.

I have my old CB's but no proper antennas for them, and three factory units, 1 AM/CB, 2 AM/FM/CB - 1 black and 1 silver faced. I have a factory antenna for my truck, and it will get the black AM/FM/CB combo when I get to it. Not as much use anymore, but I have them, so why not?

I was scrounging in a junkyard back in the '80s, and came across an adapter that went on the antenna lead that used the regular antenna for the CB. Worked great. Dad and my Uncle were both truckers. DAd retired years ago, and before my Uncle passed in 2015 I had asked him about CBs. He said guys hardly were on them anymore.

I got my license in 1993, put the CB in my 1979 Toyota Celica ST POS and turned it on to listen to... nearby warehouses calling drivers to the loading dock bay doors. Not quite the Dukes of Hazzard/Smokey and the Bandit mischief I was hoping for. Their were a few people on them, but not many. I'm still putting one in, just in case.

In the 70's I was on it every day kind of like these forums. I actually have one in my dart an old Johnsen looks like a phone, works great and threw a old 100 amp liner that I had on it also.
