Have a 1993 Ram 350 with the 5.9 Cummins and 618 auto, what is the general consesus on these trannys as far as service life and is there anything you have to watch for as far as trouble issues,, if rebuilding, what upgrades are reccomended, I tow my race car and 26ft enclosed trailer coming in at around 13-14,000# and just had the motor tuned with new injectors, 4" exhaust, and had the injector pump reworked plus added a K@N filter, so it should be running sweet,, all info is welcome.:typing:

Be sure to watch your fluid temperature, Heat kills trans fluid!!
From experience I can say that regular fluid changes are a must, especially if you do anything but putt around town. I would also suggest an in-line spin-on type filter.
My 92 W250 went 495K with two trans rebuilds (the second rebuild was a disaster and I traded for a then new, 2002 Ram2500 4x4) and now have 185k on the 2002 with regular fluid changes.
