Hey everyone,
I've got a 2001 ram that I recently swapped the v6 for a 318. Now, I used the ECU from the parts truck (2000 ram 1500) and it ran fine for all of 2 days. Now, when I start the truck, it'll light off and then die immediately. It will stay running if I give it some throttle, and after a minute or 2 it will idle on its own.
It's also throwing a code for both O2 sensors. I changed both and It didn't fix the problem. The wiring is good and the pins in the connector are good. I've come to the conclusion that the ECU is failing, but I'm not sure how to check this. That brings me to my questions.

1. How can I check to see if the ECU is bad? I have access to snap on scan tools for codes and data and all that jazz

2. If the ECU is bad, is there a way to flash the v6 ECU and use it with the 318?

Thanks in advance for the help

Have you checked the intake for a vacuum leak, it will suck the gasket out of the cover that seals the bottom of the intake. Usually they will suck oil also. This could cause your start and stall

I have not checked for a vacuum leak, though I did install a new plenum gasket while the motor was out. will check tomorrow for a leak

Sorry, been busy for a hot minute. Finally checked for a vacuum leak today and, no dice. So far, the truck is doing halfway decent on the startup, I don't know if it's happier with the cold weather or what
