hello all, just curious, how sluggish is a stock 225 in a dodge half ton truck with probably a 2:91 gear and 31 inch tall tires?

Depends on the year, transmission, which ignition and the carb intake setup. If it lean burn and not functioning right fee fortunate it pulls itself.

I'd be surprised to find a 2.91 in a rig like that, I'd expect min 3.23 - that's what the one I tore apart had. And they're no speed demon nor stump puller but they'll get along. They really seem underpowered compared to the new computer controlled stuff that does so much more with so much less displacement, but for the original times, not all that bad. Just my opinion...........

I would guess that is with an automatic transmission with that high a gear. It would help get rid of some sluggishness if the 31s were traded for some 28s.

these were thirty's 391's 225/auto , now thirty-one's 354's 383 auto .

My thought is with 2:94 gears regardless the look 31" tall tires with a /6 are not going to be conductive to adding peep. A shorter tire will help.
