Introducing FTO's Newest Member: Dartfreak75

Hey guys/gals I'm new here but a long time member of fabo. I'm getting ready to get another 01 ram its gonna be a project to replace my everyday driver 01 dodge ram. My ram is a 01 5.2 5speed quad cab Laramie. Its has close to 270k miles and has been a great truck. But unfortunately rust has gotten the best of it and it's to the point were it's not longer feasible to fix. Every body panel is rusty the frame is rusty and has places where it is cracked from the rust. So I found another 01 ram it's a 5.9 automatic crew cab st. Its plain jane no power options but is fairly solid it has the normal 2nd gen issues . Lower door rust rocker rust busted dash etc. The automatic transmission is supposed to be bad. The plan is to swap my 5 speed into the new truck (if the auto is indeed really bad) I'm gonna try and swap some of the lariame options that I like into the st truck. Like my heated mirrors, my door panels have the pockets on the bottoms I'd like to reuse them my seat has the folding console i want to use it. Basically I'm gonna use my old truck to fix up the new one the way I want it. Pictures to come. I'm sure I will be asking a lot of questions thanks in advance!

Welcome aboard from N.J. I have a 2000 standard cab (sport) 4x4 with the 5.9 and auto trans. and long bed. Love it, even with it's rust. Had to replace my 99 Sport 4x4 with 5.2 short bed due to rusted and cracked frame, typical for rust belt trucks with no undercoating and kept outside all year. I am also a Dart lover. I had 3 of them, 65 coupe, 63 coupe, 65 GT and a 65 Barracuda with a 66 Dart front clip! Loved them all. My first car was the 65 coupe which went well over the 300,000 mile mark while thrashing it all the way. Best of luck with your swap job! I love these trucks.
