My apologies if this is basic knowledge. If there is a better place to find the info, feel free to point that out. I've googled and gotten the usual "Well I did this" scenarios so now I'm looking for something a little more reasoned out.

Recently my drivers side headlight went out. I replaced both of them and they both worked afterwards. My truck has the single bulb hi/lo units which surprised the parts guy.

They worked for a while, then last week I noticed they were both out. I could flip the high beam lever and the dash light would indicate hi beam status, but not lights, hi or low.

Went out and checked the fuses. Pulled J06 as I believe that's the headlight fuse, it was good, put it back, now the lights don't work AND the indicator for ho/low doesn't light up.

From what I've read, it appears on the inside of the TIPM, there are relays that are soldered to the board and not socket-ed like the exposed relays up top. What I've read indicates the relay for the headlights might be toast.

I guess the biggest question is what wires to I test to see if it's the TIPM, relay, etc? As easy as that thing appears to be to replace, I'd rather not guess.

If it helps, in the last couple of months I've also lost the TPS status on two of the tires. I've not had that looked at and the only code I've seen is P0585 which I believe calls out holding two buttons down longer 450ms on the cruise control.

Any suggestions to diagnosing this correctly would be great.

Also, I've not tried the "reset" by touching the battery cables together (after removing)

Thanks!

Usually relays are just that and no one relay is any different than another. Never hurts to carry a spare relay.

These relays are inside the TIPM and not accessible, nor replaceable without soldering. The picture is not mine, but it's similar if not identical to the one in my truck. The white blocks are circuit board relays. Why they did this is beyond me but it is what it is. Some times they burn out, or stick open/closed. I need to know what connections/wires to test to check them.

Without an electrical diagnostic manual anything would be just a guess. Then the next problem would be finding a replacement part after you find the problem. Good luck.

Getting the part is as easy as calling the dealer. He may not like the price, but it would be available.

I will check out the wiring and connectors when I get a chance. I have access to all that at work.

Ok, thought I should follow up with this and point out my own mistake.

When I replaced both headlight bulbs, I damaged both connectors. Age and heat took there toll and my monkey fist approach to disconnecting the bulbs ended up breaking the clips internally.

Last night I was checking voltage and started with the connectors. Pulled the headlight assembly out and disconnected the connector. Checked voltage with the headlight switch "on" and damned if 12+v doidn't show up! Huh... plug it back in, no light, pull the bulb, "looks" good, re-insert the bulb and push the connector on... LIGHT... dang it....

Seems the connector was "tight" enough when I initially changed the bulbs to hold long enough for me to see light from both headlights but worked themselves loose without the clips to hold them in place.

No TIPM problems, just old crumbly connectors and a goober behind the tools.

Now to call the dealer and get some new pigtails.

Thanks for all the comments and suggestions.

Glad you got it figured out, sorry I never got that info looked up. I need to make better notes, I keep forgetting.

No worries at all. Should have started with what I did and saved the message space :)
