I was just thinking (thats the problem right there). The Hemi head has square intake runners, why? Wouldn't it be better just to make the runner round. Then there wouldn't be any transition from square to round. I know the W-2's have the oval port that works awesome. They really have no transition like the rectangle/square runner does. It was like when chevy came out with the cathedral port. I know they went away from that design but it really worked well. They still use a really tall port. I guess to ease the transition from rectangle to the round valve exit.

Why you trying to put a round port intake on it?
Going to a round port hemi head would likely require a complete redesign from the block up. Cam design, intake and exhaust port relocations. How much larger can the hemi head get.
I have not follwed the new hemi design much. Are the new ports round?
Do top fuel cars utilize round port heads? If there was an advantage to a round port hemi head some one would be makeing it.

No no, I wasn't trying to make it. I was just wondering about it. I do believe that top fuel and, some other's use it. I could swear that some pro stock guys use it

Well That is what I'm talking about. Why not round? Is there something keeping them from making them round eg. bad design, don't flow good???

More than likely space required to get the same port volume. A 2x3 port is 6 square inches. A 2 inches circle is 3.14 square inches. It would take a 2 3/4 diameter circle to equal the approx. same area. Requiring the head to be 3 inches longer or more to keep the port alligned with the intake valve. But this is only a guess.
