Not much to tell about me really. I love the old muscle era mopar cars and trucks. I will be posting a build thread here for my current project. I have great expectations for the truck, so be prepared to go for a ride. I have posted on the A,B,and E body sights and I will be posting the build the same way. I try to answer all your questions as we go along. Thanks in advance for your patience and understanding. Postcar.

ok so its been a while since i had reason to post. not that im not busy or nothing. like most of us i have another life that includes a wife, children and, grandchildren. my intent is to break alot of this up into digestible pieces. i think it will be easier on everyone involved. so i will ask everyone to forgive the lack of punctuation and misspelled words and we will be fine. i will post pics as i go along on my current project, and i well also try to answer any and all questions too. as i mentioned in my previous post, if anyone would like to see my older projects, just go over to the A, B, and E body sites and search by my user name and i think they should be available for your parousal. more to come........ current project is a 71 D100 short bed 2x4 to 4x4 conversion. SB 4spd, using an old power wagon W150 for parts. this should be fun. thanks in advance for your patience and understanding....postcar

Quick Dodge question, has anyone here done a swap like this? 70 short bed 2x4 to 4x4 using a 70 4x4 8 ft bed truck for parts. The xfer case xmember holes are not in the chassis rails so i have the layout for that and i am changing the trans xmember to the manual one all those holes are there. The frame is not the same thickness as the 4x4, and the main springs are thicker too. My original idea was to use the short bed leafs (2x4) with the long bed (4x4) axles. What im seeing is the front leafs, because of the drop center straight axle, are arched much more than 4x4 springs. The swap to the 4x4 springs will require the replacement of all 6 spring perches. I guess the real question is, is the juice worth the squeeze?

I wish I could of more help, never did anything of that nature. I think you should have posted in the "Classic Dodge Trucks pre 81" section. Maybe a moderator can move it however, if you highlight your original post, above, you can copy & paste it in a new thread over there! Best of luck! :)

Is the front of the frame the same? Most 2wd frames are different than the 4wd frames from the doors forward.

I agree with what Sporty said, however, a guy told be that Ford trucks use the same basic frame for 2wd & 4wd. Again, that may have been true at a certain time but not any longer.

So did Ma. Im going to start a thread soon. Im trying to get some pics and i may change my mind and go in a different direction altogether
