-So I come back full circle. I had this truck brought to my attention at one point as I know their gutless.... The 4 cylinder in them by Mitsubishi just isn't all that.... SO I declined as I thought about stuffing a 273 727 in the thing.... NOW you guys and trucks, you all know I got a beast truck.... my '67. BUT that thing, well, its just to freakin' big for city life! SO, I want to go something smaller, still a truck, with some age, in decent shape, you all know the deal, the "ideal" if such a thing exists in something smaller then my W200....

I declined the buy on a D-50, a while ago, and now that SAME truck comes back to me AGAIN asking if I had any more interest in it then I did the last time.... Its a Power Ram D-50 (making it 4x4) There is no engine in the truck, its a decent rolling chassis. Having said that, whats you guys input for a motor? Should I take it on? OR leave it alone? I have the ability to pick up a LA 273 4 barrel, I THINK it came out of a '67 or '68 Cuda NOT positive, BUT I know the engine runs, and runs good! Its setting on a frame tight that had no body and I actually got to hear the thing "run stilling there, as it was gonna go into a D100, but the guy changed his mind and is parting it out. It comes with a 727 and that too is in good shape as I know the person her got that trans from and all (was rebuilt).

SO.... Question is is your input.....? Should I take the D-50 get it running with the 273, OR should I keep it "stock"? -I KNOW the 273 puts out WAY more power and torque then the factory 4 cylinder that went into it. -Kinda like my truck having a slant 6 in it compared to the military set up 383 I got..... whole other ball game power-wise! AND I can get the 273 for a good price too. as well as the D-50! -What kinda work be involved?

It would be a fun little truck with a 273 in it, but I have no idea how hard it would be to stuff one in there. How are your fab skills? I'm sure it would take at least some ingenuity.

I've seen 360's in those D-50's but have no idea what it took. They were all 4x4's too.

Well Mob your a lotta help :p LOL

From my past "fab work" I can note here that its gonna take a relocated set of engine mounts, FOR SURE, and the 727 trans mount relocated too. moving the cross member back the frame a bit! NOW, having said this, the transfer case as-is is a divorced one, SO, all I'd have to do is shorten (if that jack shaft isn't telescopic) if its not, NOT, and just move the transfer case back the frame a little too, as both the front and rear drive shafts off the transfer case are telescopic. (I have no current measurements for this) but this is my thought process on the matter....

I'm SURE almost positive the 273 will have WAY more power tho.... More then said 4 popper.... AND with a little extra power, I'll have enough to haul around the city with it, and play too, keeping it 4x4, (c'on you guys ought have known better with me owning a '67 Power Wagon, I was gonna PLAY!)

Nice part is, my step-son owns his own exhaust shop, and gave me use of one out of 3 bays he has to play and work on shit.... I already got a '87 Dodge D150 stuffed in the back of it, and the little D-50 will fit in the front! (The back of this bay has an Atlas 2 post lift too!) I also do a little work for him on and off as needed nothing serious but enough to allow me to use that bay whenever I wan! I plan to at some point have it set up for painting.... 'Cuz that was what I had planned to do all along, is have a little paint booth in there as its an "end" bay and already has an exhaust for fumes!!!!

The D150 tho, is all planned out, I know where I'm going with that one The D-50, I haven't even bought yet.... Just trying to see if for the price if it be worth it!

There used to be trucks like that all over when I was younger. Nobody wants to play in the mud anymore. I've always had a fondeness for a lifted truck.

Local to me there are quite a few "Mudders" I being one of them and my Step son being the other but all of his friends with trucks and all like to go out and play, BUT, as much as I LOVE the fact I have the THEE truck for it...... They all call me Pappy because they can't even think of going where I GO.......

Thats the SHIT man! that 2WD D-50 with the mildly built 318!!!! HMMMMM I know where a 273 is..... I have to go lookin to see if I can locate a 318.... (BELIEVE that one huh I don't know of ANY 318's laying around right now!)

AND, mine IF I get it, would be 4x4 making it a Power Ram D-50.....
