Just got the mounting brackets and new hubs for my 57 for a disk brake conversion. Just wondering if anyone has any experience with this conversion, could maybe give me some pointers on what they did or would have done differently.

my backing plates and new hubs have been on the shelf for a month. too cold to go out and put them on lol

I went ahead and started the conversion this morning. I cleaned and painted an axle I had all ready. so that was all ready to go. the old brake lines were a bugger to get off. that 15/16 nut inside the frame with the steel brake line going into it what a nightmare. That and reaming the holes on the backing plates shot any thoughts I had of getting done in a day. Tomorrow I have some cleaning to do on stuff I'm reusing, so I'll take some pictures to show what I've done so far. Definitely glad I got the scarebird hubs. Everything fits so well and is so clean. One question on the new brake lines with the banjo fitting there were 2 copper washers. Does one go on each side of the fitting or did they just give a extra one? I put one on each side.

Yup ! I agree with Grizz , It sounds like you've got it right ! Looking forward to the pictures .

Well I didn't get a lot done today. Had to back track a couple times. First I figured I would replace the end links on the steering since I had it off. Not available won't be in till Tuesday due to the holiday. Second I reused the original brake mounting bolts on the bottom of the scarebird bracket that bolt on the steering link mounts. Don't do that the heads are too tall and won't let the rotor mount flush. When I test fit the rotors I had not put these on so everything went right together. So after another trip to the parts store I had grade 8 bolts and lock nuts to replace the brake bolts. Got the rotors calipers and pads on, and was working on the brake fitings when i got called in to work. Maybe tomorrow will be a better day.

Just go's to show yah . No-matter how much you plan and you "think" you have everything . There's almost always some little thing that you need that you don't have . It happens to all of us . Look's good Birdman ! When your done , this should improve your stopping power big time ! ;) By the way , what's on the rear ? 10 1/2" drums ?
