Drove a nicely fitted 2015 Ram 3500 today with the Asan tranny and 4:10 gearing. Wanting to replace my 2000 3500 CTD 6-Speed manual.

Looking to trade it, a 2011 Hemi Jeep GC fully loaded and 06 PT cruiser I inherted back, from a gift to the mother in law! "The 69 383S is off the table"

Damn the new 3500's are pricey!!

The new trucks have all the bling and smart upgrades that bode well for my 38' fifth wheel and 24' enclosed car hauler.

Wonder who has used the new auto 6 speed and if they liked it pulling that much load!

My 2000 has an SB OFE clutch and is getting to grabby for my likings.

What say you?

I would love to own a Dually myself, but I have absolutely no reason to have one.. I've just always like them.. Welcome to FTO!!!!

Hello from Minnesota. I too have always wanted a dually but have no need. I wish I could help but don't tow much. Yeah, New trucks aren't cheap!

Well thats a done deal.

Hating to see the Grand Cherokee and the Big Red Dually leave us but we have a new 2015 Laramie with pretty much every option available in their place.

Damn nice truck and will likely take me a while to figure out all the bells and whistles!

Went to pick up the check for the dealer and got rear ended on the way back in the old 2000 dually and after the papers were signed! Good thing it did not hurt the truck! The SAAB was junk and was stuck to the hitch! Had to drop the clutch to snatch it off me and ripped the hood off the saab doing it!

I my self bought a 2014 dually you see in my avatar with all of what you are talking about 410:1 Ratio, Aisin transmission HO cummins, With the Laramie package. I pull a 42 full time living 5th wheel and a car trailer too. With the 30,000 lbs towing capacity I don't even know there is a trailer behind me. I get about 11mpg towing and 17mpg empty but the truck has only got 2,000 miles on it. I love the factory 5th wheel prep/hitch it makes the whole process so much easier.. The truck was pricey at 70k but I feel it is worth the price if it is safer when I am towing for which it is why I bought it.. Good luck with your truck...I just received 3 recalls for air bags and radio upgrades. Not what anybody wants

To answer your questions about the towing it is the nicest truck I have ever towed with the exhaust brake is a great feature and in tow mode is more aggressive and will actually down shift if it doesn't see the speed coming down when you let off the throttle. If you push the exhaust brake button twice it goes into partial exhaust brake and you have to touch the brakes to activate it. If you only push the button once it is full exhaust brake and as soon as you let off the throttle/pedal it comes on. Not really what I want but everyone likes different things, I like to coast when traffic is slowing down not have the truck fall on its face. Play with it you will soon figure out what works for you. The transmission has very low 1st &2nd gears to get the load moving and it pulls hard in 3rd on up. 90* day pulling the fifth wheel over the mountains to the east coast and the transmission temp never went over 140*. If you have the gauge in your digital screen. I was real impressed with the whole truck when I did the homework and especially after I bought it and hooked it to a 20k fifth wheel the 865 lb. ft. of torque is amazing Not to mention the 385hp. Have fun with it and if you have a question don't hesitate to ask. . Bill

Nice Rig Bill!!!

I love this truck. My Montana is a 2008 3000RK (with anything you could need in it) and my car hauler is a 24' enclosed V-nose. I have not pulled the 5-er yet but the car and hauler was a nice pull. Tried in tow mode but that was way to aggressive for me. Just used the exhaust brake in auto mode and that was just sweet....

I have always used the B&W companion and turnover ball in my 2000 CTD. I plan on swapping the base to the factory Ram mount and re-use my head unit. Saves me a few bucks that way.

One thing I did not try was tow mode from dead stop. Is it as agressive as is it downshifting??

I pulled off a light on wet pavement with the car/hauler and a little too much throttle and it flat spun the tires. My 2000 NV5600 never did that and I had an edge juice with attitude on it running tow mode level mainly. It also had 4:10 gears. What's it gonna do in tow mode? That Aisin and 6.7 is making me happy!

Man that look's and sounds like one hellava truck . Welcome to the site .

I don't really feel any difference in tow mode on the up shift but I don't like the down shifting when I let off. I did the same thing as you with my 5th wheel on it spun the tires when I jump to hard on the throttle. My Montana is a new model for this year it is a 3910FB. look it up it has a nice floor plan and has all the packages. Funny story a guy came up to me and wanted to know where I got the aluminum cover for the rear differential when I told him it was factory he didn't believe me. He said someone had to of put that on I told him the truck was brand new he was like huuuh that a real good idea. I think it is because of the fins on it that through him. They are fun to drive for sure. Don't jump on it empty it will spin a long way. I did that on another truck (on a test drive) and I thought the transmission was slipping looked back and there were 4 black marks on the road. I ended up buying this truck from another dealer for a better deal...Bill

One of the first things I noticed was the finned cover on the rear Diff. Gotta be a reason the factory put it on there! I can only Assume the 4:10 gears and not any dress up! They are not waisting cost without a reason. Hope you told him to go to the dealer and look for himself!

It is to cool the fluid. It is called a rear diff. cooler part of the Aisin heavy duty package...I think it looks tough. I also sprayed mine with clear coat to keep it from oxidizing..Bill

I was being a little sarcastic or at least trying, about the diff cover!

I like the leds and would like to see it outside at night.

I just put the Recon 60" running lights on mine last weekend and like the operation and look. The white. Courtesy feature light up the step bars nicely!
