Any one else have a problem throwing the kid out at 18? Mom and me are having a battle! Yhe only time I see him is when his food run s out or the internet gores off!

Boy times have changed. Im only 40, but I wanted to move out when I was 18. Not because I didnt get along with my parents or anything, but I wanted to be on my own. I only had to move home for 6 months and during that time my parents made me pay rent and bills.

Honestly tough love is best in my opinion. Start charging him rent, utilities, food etc... He is old enough now to make his own money, and needs to learn to live on his own. He is still also under your roof and your rules, enforce them. Hell shut off the internet for his devices thru the router. So he only has internet connection from 4-10pm or something like that.

This is only my suggestion as to how to handle this. Best of luck Ray!

We moved and told him he was not coming with us. We gave the kids a choice at 18 get a job and move out. Pay rent and help by groceries. Go to school and help at home. The oldest could not decide were home was and was told to come get her stuff. The second went to college, held a job and decided home was a motel. Was told to pay for maid service or move out. The third went directly to trade school half way across the country after high school and has not returned home but to visit. The fourth payed rent and got a job till he got married at 21. But yea the fifth we moved and he was told he was not coming with.

i lived at home till I was 23-ish.... BUT I paied all of the utilities, property taxes, and did all the home repairs MYSELF till I moved out of home and a few states away and my Mom thought I was kidding and tried to get me to pay the property taxes EVEN after I left home..... Sure I made more then she did, when I was at home but, I moved for a better pay to the same type work.....Wound up getting married and got a little girl..... Wouldn't have those things if I still lived at home!

Over from FABO I see? WELCOME MAN!

I was out at 19 by my own choice and not because I had bad patents but because that's just what you do! My kids are 7&9 and can't imagine what it would be like without them, I'm sure it will change haha.
