Has anyone tried using the paint it yourself type stuff on their truck beds?
My son want to get the bed in his S-10 done and was wondering if we could do it ourselves.

Haven't done it before but here are some videos

Stan, haven't done it before but it looks very easy to do...several companies make it....

There are a lot of products that seem to work really well, but I hear that people prefer spray in over roll on a lot of the time... and that like paint, it's all about the prep! You have to prep the surface how they tell you to.

I'm looking at do it yourself bed liner for my rampage as well, but it's a ways away yet so I have time to research individual products.

I did my 95 Silversdo with the Herculiner brush on bed liner kit and it turned out perfect very satisfied. Used a 6" roller vice brush. Its like ZachArlen said it's all about the prep work. I used aircompressor with a die grinder with a course brillo pad to scuff it with turned out reall good. Doen it about two years ago and it still looks good. No chips or flaking this stuff really sticks to the surface you put it on. You can get at just about any auto store now. Cost about 100.00 but a lot cheeper than havening some one spray it and it's just as good.

Thanks Tony, thats good to hear I just bought the same kit.
I'll post some pictures of the process when we do it.

At my work they do the Rhino liner thing...they use a right angle grinder with a large rotary sanding attachment..the ones with lots of tiny sanding fingers..they then blow it out with air and wipe it down with naptha before spraying it

I'll try that, thanks Eric

Reviving an older thread....how is the liner holding up and do you put a lot of stuff in the bed? I've seen trucks that look pretty bad after several years of use and to me, it doesn't look good. Also, I'm always sliding stuff in and out of my trucks and the liner seems to have a good deal of grip and makes it harder to do that.

I used the Napa roll bedline on a few years ago on my Ranger. It started to peel after a year or so. Probably my lack of attention to prep. Now I bought a used Ram so I'm tempted to use the Herculiner and try it again.

I'm a big DIY fan and a nice truck bed liner makes a worl of difference in the way it looks! Sounds like the DIY liner isn't too difficult. Will keep in mind unless our future truck already has one

I used a spray on kit called Bulldog, worked great and tough as nails. You have to scuff the bed up with scotch brite and also remember to put something in the front drain holes, I used tounge depressors. Took a hour to tape and spray. Really like it also did my trailer bed with the extra. Came with four bottles of sealer, activator and a spray gun. $100!!!!! Think they changed the name to raptor now.
