Hi All- I am a member of FABO and I am here to test the forum software here on FTO. I do not have any truck projects for now, but I am learning to grill using a smoker, and thought this project might be a good way to interact here. MODS- if there is a better sub section in off-topic, please feel free to move this post. Now on to the goodness!

I bought the grill from lowes.com and picked it up in store. Since I have a car, I opted to have it assembled. Also I purchased the side firebox attachment, so I would have to half take it apart anyway. Here is the grill assembled with the SFB

This is an offset smoker, so you put fuel in the side box, it comes through a hole in the side, and the food is cooked with indirect heat. Heat coming from one side means the temp can be very uneven side to side, which is not good. To monitor the temps I need a thermometer on each side, close to grill level where the food is. I picked up a pair on amazon (that should be a link ---testing...) and installed

I filled those 1/2 inch holes

The thermometer is askew to my target temp of 225*F is indicated when the needle is straight up and down

Get a hold of Inkjunkie if you havent already over on FABO. If you have questions about something. He is big into smoking lots of different things, has built a few of his own smokers and has a good resource to help you out.
