    49 Dodge Pilothouse build

Anyone going to the NHRA Hot Rod reunion in Bowling Green Ky.? Dad and I have been going since the first reunion gathering at Beech Bend Park drag strip. Great time and around a 1000 hot rods, muscle cars, rat rods etc. Let me know if you plan on attending and maybe we can get together and...

    49 Dodge Pilothouse build

Sorry its been a while since I updated the build. My Dad finished the rear brake lines and that's about it. Dad had to start chemo again. Slowed him down but hasn't stopped him. I was in NC the end of April but no work on the truck. Dad and I did go to the junk yard and stripped a 1 ton 50...

The c notch is boxed. I'm heading back to Florida. Probably be a couple of more months before I do another update. Thanks for looking. If the group has any input, I welcome it.

    49 Dodge Pilothouse build

Started dropping the rear this past Monday. Used 2x2, 1/4 inch thick square tubing and a piece of 8 inch round tubing for the notch. Still need to box the frame, make the cross member for the coil overs and build a panhard bar. Haven't decided if I am going to cut the leaf springs and use...

I really appreciate your service to our country wayfarer. I am Mopar guy but have never considered one of these PH trucks until my dad found it. Had to have it. It reminds me of our pugs with the flat nose.

It was a 96 Explorer. The disc appealed to me as well. Mine is a 3.55 gear and I dont think its limited slip. Im going to run the numbers on the gear tag when I go back up to work on it. Here are a couple of links to give you the specs and some good info. The Ford Explorer 8.8-Inch Axle Swap...

    49 Dodge Pilothouse build

Today, Dad and I temporarily mounted the 8.8. Wasn't sure if the rear would be dropped enough to suit us. Well, it ain't. So, when I come back up in January we will flip the axle and "c" notch the frame. Hopefully in January we can get the front axle removed and mount a Fatman mustang 2 kit...

    49 Dodge Pilothouse build

Ok. I'm gonna try my hand at doing a build thread. My project is a 49 Dodge B1. Otherwise known as a Pilothouse truck. This will not be an all original build. So, to the Mopar purist, you can get glad in the same pants you got mad in. I can say that because all I have are Mopars that are...
